Shame from the past throws a shadow across today’s sun. This signals a time when the shame lived with for so long can be understood and healed, dissolved into memories and pictures that belong only to the past.
Facing both known and secret fears is an essential part of healing the shame that has bound us to our past.
This Rune acknowledges arrival at a place in recovery where there is clarity, strength and will to heal feelings. It’s a time to finally open the sealed rooms of exhaustion, aloneness …

Today I left work early and decided I would take it easy. I stopped by and talked to one of my favorite people for about an hour and at the end of our conversation she said, “be gentle with yourself.” I was thinking about going home and going for a run in spite of the fact that it was 94 degrees. So as I was driving, I was thinking about what she had said, “be gentle” so I thought, “o.k. I’ll go for walk instead.”
I changed clothes and started on …

The most difficult and challenging work we will ever do, is the work on ourselves. To stop focusing on the things of the outside world, and to stop blaming, is to stop being a victim. To accept responsibility for creating the things that we have in our life, is the first step on the path to freedom. When I say “this is my life, I don’t like whats’ in it, and I’m going to change it” things are about to get either much better, or much worse. To try and …

As part of my journey during the past year I have enjoyed reading the work of Dr. Hank Wesselman. I have read all of his books and enjoyed meeting him when he appeared at New Renaissance Book Store here in Portland several months ago.
Dr. Hank’s life and writings are about Shamanism and all that we are missing when we focus our attention on the things of “this world.” Recommended reading for any of you who are really open to learning the truth, about who you really are.
You can check out …

I was reminded today when I read my message from Mike Dooley at tut.com, that it is incredibly important to select and use our words with great care. The same applies to the action that you take in your daily life. Thoughts do become things. This is also one of the Four Agreements, Be Impeccable With Your Word. Why? Because thoughts and actions appear in our world as the proof that we are all great magicians! It’s just a matter of what we choose to manifest. Have a great weekend.

In the book; The Master Game, by Robert S. De Ropp, he says “man’s ordinary state of consciousness, his so called waking state, is not the highest level of consciousness of which he is capable. In fact, this state is so far from real awakening that it could  appropriately be called a form of waking sleep.”
I have noticed over the years of working with thousands of addicts and alcoholics that we all seek “more.” There are many addicts who will tell you that their favorite drug is “more”. Or, as my …

Really? I struggle with this at times. I look around and see disharmony disaster and disease and think “this is how it should be?” But then I think about the healing possibilities that could come from the situation that I am viewing or thinking about and consider that  maybe I’m missing something. That is always the case. I am missing the rest of the story! I often ask people “when was the last time something didn’t work out?” They will tell me a story about how something failed to resolve or still …

I often get emails asking me for “the best” books to read to help with recovery. It’s a tough question because there are many good books, and not everybody benefits from the same material. I will give you a list of my favorites and a brief description.
1. Path of Empowerment by Barbara Marciniak. This book changed my life. Without question the most important book I have read but not a basic 12 step addiction recovery book. This book  is about discovery, the discovery of YOU!
2. Under The Influence by Dr. …

In life, we are always setting goals for ourselves and working to make them happen. This gives us focus and ensures that we use our time and energy efficiently and effectively. It also provides us with a sense of purpose and direction. We know where we are going and what we want to do. But quite often, due to forces outside our control, things do not go as we had planned-the flat tire on the way to the wedding, the unforeseen flu virus-and we have to adjust to a postponement …

I read this again today as a part of my morning meditation and wanted to share it with you. It feels critically important for those of us trying to remember our ultimate Truth.
“You might want something with all your heart and soul, but without believing it is possible, you simply cannot maintain the thoughts necessary to bring it to fruition. This explains why it’s your hopes and fears you believe to be the most plausible that you usually manifest, because they’ve been “allowed” the most play in your mind. The thoughts that exist just outside …
