Standing in the present is living in the present.
Mindfulness, as a daily practice in our lives, opens the gates within to awareness, healing and the growth of Self. Being in the present doesn’t have to begin with a perceived, mystical experience. In fact, try gardening. Rather than letting your awareness scatter as you pull weeds, and fertilize; focus on the cultivation process you have stepped into. Look around and feel the presence of the garden; the soil, vegetation, each weed or flower. Allow the beauty of nurturing the life of the garden to flow freely through and around you. In being with the garden you are being with Self; cultivating and nurturing your own internal garden. In discovering the beauty and experience of standing in the present, perhaps you also find that gardening can be your mystical experience.
